London Calling

Sarema and I just booked our flight to London for Kim's wedding. We depart on Wednesday, 5 March, arriving the next day at mid-morning. We're staying for a week and have a friend house-sitting for us while we are gone.
We're looking forward to seeing Kim and Henry in England!

Wiisaber

In June, I wrote that "If a lightsaber game for Wii comes out, that might just push me over the edge to get one..."
guess I should adjust my Christmas list.

Tonight I learned...

...that I need some more English Beat songs in my iPod. Those guys rocked this party.

Billy Joel Live

I'm sitting here in the Cow Palace in San Francisco watching Billy Joel perform live for thousands of screaming Oracle nerds. In fact I'm pretty sure Billy's biggest fan is sitting three seats to my right. (He's singing along with "We didn't start the fire")
I'm up here in San Fran for the annual Oracle conference. Rodger Dean, who used to work me, flew down from Alaska for the conference and we've been palling around for the past couple of days. Rodger didn't make hotel reservations before he came down, so he's bounced around from hotel to hotel until last night... when he ended up sleeping in his rental car because he couldn't find a hotel room under $450. Doh! (He's ok for tonite, now)
I'm not really a big Billy Joel fan, but he has also played some AC/DC ("Highway to Hell") and some Jimi Hendrix ("Purple Haze") so at least I recognized a couple of the songs. Wait, he's singing "It's still rock and roll to me" I remember that from second grade!
I'll post some pictures when I get home.

Happy Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day (it was actually on saturday, but it's "observed" today, when it's observed at all).
My dad sent me a great quote about today I thought it was appropriate and very "blog-worthy"

A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

There are 160,000 soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen serving in harms way right now in the middle east. To those of you that have served or are serving now, thanks for writing the check. I'll raise a beer tonite in hopes Uncle Sam doesn't cash it.

Scottish Star Trek:Speak English Please

YouTube is blocked on my network at work, so I haven't seen this. I'm just assuming from the comments, though, that it is hilarious. Hopefully Dad likes it, too.

The Dollar Reaches a Historic Low vs. Euro & British Pound

Gold jumped to a 28-year high of $845 an ounce on Wednesday as the dollar hit new record lows of $1.47 to the euro and $2.10 to the British pound. Great time to take a trip to Britain. Kim, your timing sucks! (just kidding... we're still happy to be there for you)
