Segway

Segway

Sarema snapped this picture of me test-driving a segway during the Strawberry Festival this weekend. It was surprisingly easy to get the hang of... I was ripping around the parking lot after only a minute of figuring out how to balance and move. If it weren't for their hefty pricetag (~$5K), I'd have one of these puppies right now.
Thanks to Segway By The Bay, our local segway dealer and tour operator, for providing the test drives.

Kim took a picture of Hunter and me wrestling on the lawn while she was visiting. You'll notice that Hunter's using the patented Kung Foo move that I taught him: the nose choke-hold.

AG Strawberry Festival

1st amusement park ride
Originally uploaded by Rob Wooldridge.
We had no idea that the local strawberry festival was so huge when we went to visit on Sunday. There we hundreds of booths and eateries with a half dozen kids rides like you see Hunter on. This was his 1st amusement park ride and he threw a fit when we tried to take him off. We caved and let him ride it again.
My sister, Kim, was in town for the weekend to visit (you can see her in the picture in the upper left corner with the white shirt). She had a great time being an auntie and we were glad for the extra pair of hands.

Well, now it's back to the office tomorrow after 4 weeks of paternity leave and one week at the conference.

Don't Forget

I'm sitting here in the Knoxville airport, waiting for a plane to take me home to my family. I've had longer separations from them, but I'm still as anxious as ever to hold the other 3 Wooldridges close.
When you're enjoying your day off on Monday, please don't forget why we have that day. It's been a rough year for the guys and girls fighting over there and we've taken a lot of casualties lately trying to squeeze out a victory before Congress declares a surrender.
Please take a moment to remember those who gave their lives and why they fought. Regardless if you think this war is worth their lives, the point is that they thought it was worth it. Thank God that my day is in November, the day for those who served and did come back. Monday is their day because they didn't come back.
Thanks Baldo and all the rest.

"Let Are Kids Walk"

Parents protesting this Texas school's decision to disallow participation in the graduation ceremony for those who failed the necessary standardized tests shed a little light on why they are in this predicament to begin with. Reading is fundamental, folks.

Trip

I'm attending a conference in Gatlinburg, TN until tomorrow. I'll post some pictures of the Great Smokey Mountains when I return.
My sister, Kim, is coming to visit this weekend, so I'm sure I'll take even more pictures soon.

Mom's visit

Mom's visit

My mom's been visiting since Thursday. She and the kids have been having a great time together. Hunter is entering the "terrible two's" and can use all the attention he can get, especially with Sarah around.

Way too addicting

This game is way too addicting for just a little flash application. You have 100 points to spend on outfitting your little band and then you can play single player or multiplayer against other group configurations.
Give it a whirl if you have a couple minutes to get sucked in.
