New House

I'm probably jinxing this by posting it to the blog, but it looks like we have a new house. The sellers have accepted our latest offer (which is good, because we couldn't afford any more).

Our House Sold

We accepted an offer on our house. It's sold. Now the clock starts ticking to find a new house for us to move to. We arranged to rent our house back from the new owners for up to 80 days after escrow closes so we can have enough time to find and fix up a house.
We have two offers in on 3-bedroom houses in Arroyo Grande now. One is for a very nice new house that is on the smallish side; the other is for a much cheaper, 30-year old house that needs a little TLC but has a lot more room.

Vista

Windows Vista goes on sale. So what?

Home for 180 days

I just checked out the counter on the right side of the blog and realized that I've been home for just about six months. I wish the time over in Kuwait flew as fast as the last six months have.
Last night I was hanging out with Jim and Dave, two of my roommates from Kuwait, and we all commented that our deployment now seems like a 15 month-long bad dream. We went to sleep in May of 05 and woke up in August 06.

Square One

We're back to square one with houses. The interested buyer on our house backed out and the house we liked in AG was purchased by someone else. So we're back where we started and are very disappointed.
We won't be able to keep our current house on the market for very long; Sarema is getting too far along in her pregnancy to jump houses. If it doesn't sell soon, we'll take it off the market until way after the baby is born.

Bye, Cliff

I drove up to Hollister yesterday to take part in a memorial skydive for a friend of mine who died two weeks ago while at a boogie in Arizona. A bunch of freeflyers formed a head-down round formation, all holding hands. Then we broke the circle and opened it a little bit to make room for Cliff to fly in his "slot." Afterwards, Adam opened up a bag on his arm, releasing some of Cliff's ashes into the sky.
I hope this is the last ash dive that I am ever part of.
The picture was taken after both of Cliff's memorial dives... There were so many people who wanted to participate that we had to break it into two loads on the King Air.

Ice?!?!?

Ice ice baby, too cold.
I remembered this morning why we're not looking for a house north or the Cuesta grade. I stopped for gas in Atascadero and the bucket with the windshield wiper was frozen solid. I picked up the handle of the wiper and the whole bucket came up.
Brrrr.
Its been so cold in this area the last few days that my friend from Alaska, Rodger, emailed me that its was warmer in Anchorage than Morro Bay last night.
Brrr.
Finally, to answer Mom's comment on the previous post: The house is 40 minutes south in Arroyo Grande, about 5 miles from the beach with a nice yard. We still have to get our current house sold, though. That is proving to be more difficult than originally thought.

New House

We received an offer on our house and are in negotiations to sell it. As if we needed more stress, we're looking for a 3 bedroom home to move into next. Buying and selling homes at the same time is a stress monster.
Of all the houses we've looked at, this one is our current favorite. We'll see if we can make it work.

New Year's Plague

The same bug that took me down on New Year's Eve got Hunter two days ago and Sarema yesterday. We got to spend both of the last two nights in the hospital. Last night, we even stayed the whole night so we could make sure the baby was still ok in Sarema's tummy.
Sheesh. That sucked.
I'm off work today taking care of Hunter so that Sarema can sleep and recover.

Halo 3 for the troops

This is cool. Microsoft is letting some of the guys over in Iraq Beta-test Halo 3 for them over 10 months before it comes out.
Outstanding.

Pong, Only Harder

Try this out. Pong, only harder. (hit "Jouer" to begin)

Feeling Better Now

Boy was I sick yesterday. Even worse than that time I ate sushi in Mexico. I have no idea what caused it, either.I was so sick I had to go to the ER and get 4 liters of fluid pumped into my arm. Thank goodness they gave me something for the overwhelming nausea, too.I totally missed New Year's Eve.
But I'm feeling much better now.
